Data Robotics update fixes service error apparently

I was experiencing a recurrent problem.  There were many, many messages like:

May 31 19:26:49 DDService64d[3813]: Exception invoking task

in my system.log.  Nothing "seemed" amiss but I didn't care for it. There were HUNDREDS of these messages.

So tonight I tried doing this:

sudo launchctl stop com.datarobotics.ddservice64d

And, lo and behold, the errors stopped.  The PID for DDService64d did change because launchd restarted it automagically but the errors stopped.

iPhoto Library Manager - Review

My dear wife has been having some trouble with iPhoto lately. I try not to mess with her system much because how she does things and how I do things are leagues apart. But when she asks for help what can I do?

So what she had was photos that seemed to be disappearing and Events that started out with photos in them and then turned up empty. This actually happened earlier this month too although I don't remember what that resolution was.

Well, today I took a closer look and it was clear that there was something seriously amiss with her iPhoto library. So I did some digging and found a couple of ways to address the problem. None of which was I pleased with but, as I say, what can you do?

If you're interested here's what I did. And it turns out well. At least in the short term.

Spammers go away!

I've just installed a plugin by Akismet which says it will catch and eliminate comment spam. As I've already had to remove six such spams already I welcome the assistance.

Setting up mail relay through Gmail

I've just posted a description on what I did to get the server relay mail through Gmail.  As my ISP blocks all Port 25 traffic I had to use a different host, I chose Gmail because the email is hosted there, to handle outgoing email.

You can read the saga at OSX Server mail relay through GMAIL

I hope you find it useful.
