Following an illness of ten days, Reese F. Ramsey of 139 Davis avenue, died on Wednesday afternoon at 1:40 o'clock, aged 53 years. Mr. Ramsey had been suffering from a severe cold, which developed into pneumonia, causing his death.
He was born in Rye, N. Y., the son of the late William and Margaret Ramsey. For nearly fifteen years he conducted a blacksmith shop in the D. K. Allen building on Lewis street, retiring about a year ago. Since that time he had continued in the same line of business in a building on his property. Many of the prominent residents of the town were his patrons, before the days of the automobile. He was a member of Tribe Maya Mayano, No. 46, I. O. R. M., Pine Lodge, Knights of Pythias, and Greenwich Lodge, No. 1150, B. P. O. Elks. Two members of each organization will act as pall-bearers at his funeral to be held at his late home tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery, Rye. The Elks will hold a service at the house this evening.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Arnold Rowell, of Washington, D. C.; Mrs. Elmer Jaycox, of Greenwich, for many years a school teacher, and Miss May Ramsey; and one son, Frederick J. Ramsey, of Greenwich.
Mr. Ramsey was a highly respected resident of the community and he leaves a large circle of friends.
